GENERAL INFORMATION

FUNERAL AND MEMORIAL SERVICES, PRAYERS, GRAVESIDE SERVICES and USE OF PARISH HALL FOR FUNERAL RECEPTIONS (church hall at Corpus Christi Church, formerly St. Theresa and Holy Spirit Church) on 750 Rutland Rd N, please contact the Corpus Christi Parish Office at (250)765-6869 for inquires on arrangement, cemetery fees, hall availability and cost. 

 

CATERING:  It is the family’s responsibility to arrange for catering.  (Note: Catering can usually be done by the Catholic Women’s League of our Parish if requested. To contact the CWL, please call the Parish Office for the phone number of the CWL Catering Convenor.)

 

MUSICIANS:  The funeral home and priest can suggest musician.  However, it is the family’s responsibility to arrange for payment.

ST THERESA’S CEMETERY RULES, REGULATIONS AND RATES

 

P ARISH SERVED: Space in our Cemetery is limited to parishioners of Corpus Christi Parish, to the second generation of Parishioners. This limitation is necessary because Corpus Christi Parish is responsible for all ongoing expenses, as well as the cost of perpetual care.

 

RESERVATION OF PLOTS: Plots may be reserved prior to the need.  All reserved plots must be paid in full within three months.  If payment has not been made by the end of that time, the reservation will be cancelled.  

 

BURIAL PLOTS: Couples may purchase only one plot.  This plot may then be used for both burials, with the first at eight feet and the second at six feet.  No “side by side” plots are available now due to shortage of space.

FAMILY PLOTS:  Can Contain up to 6 cremated remains.

 

NUMBER OF BURIALS PER PLOT:  Two burials are permitted in one burial plot, and six cremated remains are allowed be interred in the same burial plot.

 

NUMBER OF INTERMENTS PER CREMATION PLOT: Only two interments of ashes are permitted.

 

PERMITTED MARKER SIZES

1. Markers for adult graves may not exceed 16” by 28”

2. Markers for children & infant graves may not exceed 12” by 16”​

3. Markers for cremated remain graves may not exceed 10” by 16”

 

PLACEMENT OF MARKERS:  All new markers (whether of a concrete base or not) must be placed flat and sunk into the ground so that the uppermost surface is level with the ground.  This is to avoid damage from lawn-mowers or of other machines.

 

INSTALLATION OF MARKERS:  The Cemetery Supervisor must pre-approve all markers. He must be notified of the date and time so that he can be present to supervise the installation.  This is necessary to ensure placement of markers on proper plots. There is a $25.00 fee for this service when done by the monument company. If our supervisor is to install the head stone, cost are:  Burial Marker $125.00; Cremation Marker $125.00

 

ADORNMENTS, CURBS, RAILINGS, ETC: No grave may be enclosed with any fence, hedge, curb, or railing, since these obstruct machinery for the opening and closing of other graves and lawn maintenance. No plot may be adorned in any manner by any person except as specifically approved by the Cemetery Supervisor. Flowers, wreaths and any offerings may be placed on top of the marker on the grave.

DAMAGES AND THEFT: Corpus Christi Parish and the Cemetery with the supervisor/worker are not responsible for any theft or damages done to any personal property or effects, items, existing curbs or enclosure of any kind. As well as any damages done to fresh/artificial flowers or decorations placed at the Cemetery. 

 

ST. THERESA CEMETERY PRE-SELLS CEMETERY PLOTS BUT THIS IS NOT A PRE-NEED PLAN: There are additional charges for opening and closing the grave, liners, headstone plus any miscellaneous charges if applicable. The family is responsible for these extra expenses.

(GRAVE SPACES REMAIN as THE PROPERTY OF THE CEMETERY AT ALL TIMES. PLEASE NOTE: No GST or PST charges on any services.)

 

USE OF GRAVES SPACES

a) Adult Size (6 feet by 10 feet)               $1,900.00

b) Child Size (3 feet by 6 feet)                 $700.00

c) Cremations Size (3 feet by 4 feet)        $700.00

 

OPENING AND CLOSING OF GRAVES

a) Adult (single grave)                            $1,500.00

b) Adult (multiple) 2nd Burial                   $1,000.00

c) Adult (multiple) 1st Burial                    $1,000.00

d) Child or Infant                                    $1,000.00

e) Cremated remains                               $425.00

 

GRAVE LINERS:    Burial Liners      $600.00           Cremation Liners      $425.00

MARKER INSTALLATION:   Burial / Cremation Marker      $300.00

​

HAND-DUG GRAVES: Cost is based on the number of hours needed to dig the grave.  Rate is $50.00 per hour. ADDITIONAL COST FOR OPENING & CLOSING GRAVES, such as rental of special tools for use in rocky areas, removal of pre-existing curbs and concrete, etc., will be charged for at cost.
